About
Hi, I’m Catherine. This is my take on eating out around Dublin and occasionally further afield.
There are few things I love more than starting off a night out with friends by trying out a new spot to eat, or visiting an old favourite. I love fancy restaurants, but I also believe you shouldn’t have to spend a fortune to eat great, creative food in fun surroundings.
I’ve lived in Dublin for 13 years, with a stint in London in 2010/2011. On coming back to Dublin, I loved that so many new, innovative places to eat and drink had sprung up despite the tough climate for business owners in the last few years.
I’m not much of a home cook, so you probably won’t find any recipes, mouth-watering baking shots, or cookbook reviews here, but you will find honest reviews and recommendations of Dublin’s dining spots as I continue to enthusiastically eat my way around our fair city.
I hope you enjoy – feedback is always welcome, and please share your own views and favourite places so I can find even more new ones to try.
Love your blog! I am in Dublin for a long weekend in November with a friend. Can you recommend the best parts of town to stay and explore? I live in NYC and, having never been to Dublin, want to avoid the touristy places. I’d hate to end up in a place akin to Times Square in NYC! I often in Brooklyn or uptown NYC, if that gives you an idea of what I’m looking for. Thanks much in advance!
Thanks for commenting Paul, I am delighted to have a reader all the way in NYC 🙂
Dublin is so small that you can really hit all of the different parts of town in one visit, so I’d aim to stay centrally (Dublin 1, 2, 4) and explore from there. Happy to recommend any of the restaurants I’ve reviewed here for you to visit – maybe think about exploring the pubs and restaurants around George’s St, Wexford St, Camden St (these all run into each other), South Anne St and off Grafton St (start with a pint in Kehoe’s or McDaid’s), and for something a bit different head northside to the Stoneybatter area to visit L Mulligan’s gastropub and the Dice Bar for late night drinks. Let me know how you get on!
Hey catherine, never realised, I’m ashamed to say, how extensive your blog is. Such a wonderful selection of reviews, informative and funny too. Can’t wait to try some, ok all, of them x
Hi! I am a New Yorker too and i just found your blog. I’ll be in Dublin in 2 weeks. Thank you for all your suggestions! If you have any new suggestions, please send!
Hey!
I really love your blog! You have very interesting articles! i’m from Poland and with my sister we are planning to visit Dublin. But we have a big problem with accommodation. We are looking for something cheap (very cheap), but we don’t want to stay in one of hotels which offers rooms where you sleep with another, stranger, people (dorms). We prefer private rooms.
Would you like to recommend something? 😉
Take Care!
Alexandra
